WEEK // END

These photos are actually from last weekend, I totally forgot to post them. And seeing as this weekend is probably going to be pretty snoozy (I need new hobbies...) I figure they can make up for it.

I've been making friendship bracelets like a crazy lady lately. I don't know what came over me, but one day I just decided to try making one and now I find myself surrounded by about a hundred different coloured threads and a new addiction to youtube (it's more than just funny videos, apparently). I want to buy like, beads/charms and try and add them too. My dream is to actually become good and sell them, but reality is they take me about 2 hours to make, and I'd sell them for 50c, so it's probably never going to happen. My poor friends are going to have to feel obligated to wear them now.

Also went to the Glebe markets last weekend which is always lovely. Picked up two new rings for $10 each, not bad, except they don't fit. But that doesn't stop me!

Lastly, a new top for $5 (thankyou, Cotton On clearance), some tea and decision making over photos, and my current work space which is in desperate need of a makeover. So. Much. Wall. I really like the poster of the world so that's definitely going up.

Oh, and a tree in my neighbours yard has been 'trimmed' and I cannot believe how much sky I can now see from my tiny backyard. Small joys in the world...

Another sunset walk today, go me! Probably did more photo taking than actual exercise but hey, I am paying out of my ass for this iPhone, I'm going to use the shit out of it.

My area isn't exactly a glorious walking destination, unless you like rows and rows of houses, but I have my set route now, and it involves 2-3 parks which are nice for the whole minute I spend in them. Not sure why there are so many palm trees around here, we're miles from any beach, but I appreciate it anyway. I'm looking forward to summer picnics, cute!

I also forgot to mention I dyed my hair the other night. A while I ago, I was pretty much blonde, and when I decided I was sick of the terrible brassy tones continuing to appear no matter how many times I toned it (I am naturally dark brunette, oh the currseee). So one day, I decided to go back to brown, but wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to ombre yet. I loved it, it was a perfect ashy brown. And it last a whole 2 weeks before BRASS reappeared.

To cut a long story short, I have not been able to dye it the same since, and finally had my last attempt the other day and now my hair is BLACK. Ok not exactly black, but pretty close. The colour I bought was almost identical to the first dye I used, but I must have left it on faaar too long. UGH. I don't suit really dark hair. I hope it washes out just as quickly as all the other dyes have...

Have you ever had any bad dye experiences? I've had some shockers.

Suburbia

Last weekend I drove out to some of the Western suburbs of Sydney, scouting for some locations for my current photography project. I was looking particularly for areas which had new neighbourhoods, and Sydney is quite well known for it's rising urban sprawl.

No proper photos were taken but I thought I'd share some of the ones I managed to get before the sun set.

Week // End

So many photos! I should have updated sooner. But I didn't. I've had a good week - Thursday night a friend and I went out with some random American tourists she had met on the street earlier, cause that's the way we roll. A pleasant drink in Darlinghurst turned into clubbing in Kings Cross, on an indie music night too, what are the chances! It was splendid - we drank cocktails out of teapots, you can't get better than that.

The day after I made a massive fry up for both of us, because nothing cures a hangover like greasy food! We dragged ourselves out of the house around 3pm to go meet the American's again for a culture hit at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. I'd been dying to go there for ages because they have a new contemporary section.
It blew my mind guys. Some of my favourite photographers! A lot in fact. It was fantastic, and a bit of an inspiration kick which was well appreciated.

Other than that, I've been at home working on projects. I've had Photoshop open for days now rendering gigantic image files. Let me tell you, this is not enjoyable.
I also painted my nails in a new colour, Naughty And Nice by China Glaze. I'm really into the colour, it's like a deep burgundy, a bit lighter than the pic. China Glaze is amazing, I think I actually prefer it over OPI?

I have a few posts lined up, which is great, if I actually get around to posting them. I will update this blog, even if it is the death of me (my priorities, right?).

I should really do this more often because picking just ten images was HARD, I have so many new ones I'm dying to share! I spend way too much time on flickr and tumblr, those websites are making me a hermit.
But seriously, there is so much talent out there, it's crazy. I am so jealous! I want these people's lives, they look amazing.

It's funny how I study photography...and yet I never seem to take photos. Not anymore, anyway. I miss that. I love my Canon AE-1, but I've hardly shot any film on it, I should really change this. Thinking of ordering some film off Ebay, so much cheaper than buying it here in Australia! Speaking of, how gorgeous is our stunning outback in photo 5...I can't wait to do a roadtrip out to central Australia :)

A bunch of photos taken over the last week or so that have been sitting on my computer. I really miss the rainy weather we were having, I felt like I got so much done! Now it's sunny and warm and I'm still sitting inside but being totally unproductive. Not on!

I am really into my salad lately. Basically the addition of prosciutto to salad makes it like, ten times better. I never used to like salads, and now suddenly I eat them all the time! I'm not complaining, and either is my 'diet'.

You'll also notice my less than fantastic African Violet. And by less than fantastic, I mean dead. I do not have a green thumb, my friends. This plant was amazing, it stayed alive for 2 years and loved my neglect, and then suddenly it decided to get root rot and completely died on me. I don't have the heart to throw it out, a little part of me believe it will magically come back...

And by the way, yes those are poached pears. In a caramelised maple syrup sauce. No biggie.
